The Snake and Pony
An inn run by the retired adventurer Agrippa, the Snake and Pony is an “inn” in the sense that it does offer a few old cots, a stew of questionable origins to eat, water and (plenty of) beer, mead and other drinks. Located in a run-down section of Shard, the Snake and Pony is dark, musty and has a faint “bog-like” odor that never seems to entirely go away—though given that the clientele are mostly wandering adventurers with limited access to bathing facilities, it’s hard to truly pinpoint whether it’s the inn itself or the people in it which gives the Snake and Pony its unique smell.
Regardless of its presentation (not terribly impressive), the Snake and Pony is well-known in certain circles as the place for adventurers and prospective clients to meet. Agrippa runs a tight ship, and adventurers or clients that have gained a reputation for deceit are politely informed – at the end of Agrippa’s old but still intimidating greatsword – that their coin is no longer welcome in her establishment. With this reputation, the Snake and Pony has become known as the place where honest dealings can be made in a business that is riddled with dishonest characters.
